Hi Kate,
I too am a thyroid cancer survivor, 6 years out. Wanted to let you know that there are women like me, who's thyroid cancer had spread to the lymph nodes, who are now cancer free. It sounds like your is under control, and on it's way out. I hope so! Also, it appeared that you went off your thyroid meds before your scan? You mentioned the hypothyroidism? Are you familiar with Thyrogen? It's a medication (injection) that you are given two days in a row immediately prior to having your scan. By taking Thyrogen, you don't have to go off your Synthroid AT ALL! You do still have to do the low iodine diet, but you can stay on your meds, which is huge. If you haven't used it before, maybe ask your endocrinologist about Thyrogen if you need another scan. I was introduced to Thyrogen by my endocrinologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City, so it's definitely recommended. I wish you the best, and hope this is all soon behind you:)
Cheers,
